Validation of a computer-based system for training of tactical skills in the sports game handball
An interesting result was that all subjects stated not to use any specialized software for training. Even video clips were only used in the top level teams. Additionally, this video material was not special recorded for teaching purposes and contain mainly deflective elements such as the audience during a match. In contrast to the advantage to have special recorded video clips for tactical moves, a major critic point to the system was the enhanced effort to prepare such video material. The animated tactic board was evaluated as very useful mainly through its animation properties, but could be also improved in terms of realism. The usage during training needs a notebook ideally combined with a video projector, which was also negatively remarked. The next step will be the completion of the learning and training modules. After this, studies with players of youth teams are planned to optimize the usability of the system for the player-relevant modules.
