Lateral'nyj fenotip vysokokvalificirovannych sportsmenov i elementarnye formy projavlenija bystroty
(Lateral phenotype in highly qualified athletes and elementary forms of speed presentations)
The purpose of this research is the revelation of the specific lateral phenotype characteristics of elite athletes and the definition of the combinations of sensorimotor asymmetries favorable to the speed presentations. 254 elite athletes were tested with the software and hardware complex "the Determinantion of Individual Functional Brain Asymmetries Profile". The measurements were made before and after the sports load. A significant increase of sinistrality indicators was found in motor as well as in sensory preferences. This is considered to be a favorable factor for successful transition of the hypoxia state. It turns out that the combination of right-handedness with the left eye preference and right ear preference is favorable for the speed at young male athletes. The favorable combination at young female athletes consists in right-handedness and left sensomotor asymmetries. The mainly left laterality dominance with the right eye preference proved to be an unfavorable combination for speed at young male athletes. The ambidexterity at young female athletes was an unfavorable factor.
